About

The Company
Dating back to 1692, Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm that boasts one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape. Beloved for its magnificent garden that is laid out over 3,5 hectares and divided into 15 sections that comprise fruit, vegetables and more. A secluded path runs along the stream where thousands of clivias flower in spring. The garden also boasts a plethora of trees of historical and botanical import. Every aspect of Babylonstoren – including the contemporary Farm Hotel & Spa, the Farm Shop and Bakery – are led by the ever-changing tapestry and botanical diversity of the garden.

The Products
Babylonstoren, a place for the senses. The 17th century farm situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain is known for silky-linen accommodation, fruit and vegetable gardens with crunchy gravel walkways, warm breads and fragrant wines, but now also for their award-winning extra virgin cold-extracted olive oil. Award-winning indeed; Babylonstoren won a gold medal for their Extra Virgin Olive Oil at 2015’s SA Olive Awards.

Visitors to the farm can now visit the state-of-the-art olive oil plant between March and June to experience – hear, see, smell, taste and feel – the making of Babylonstoren’s oil.
The oil is for sale on the farm and at Babylonstoren’s online shop..
