About
The Company Fred Badenhorst was born and raised on Groot Constantia in the Cape. He and his son Hein continue a family farming business tradition in the Prince Albert district of the Great Karoo. Prince Albert is well known for its quality figs, pomegranates, grapes and other fruit. Fresh water, a dry disease-free climate, ample summer heat and winter cold provide the ideal macro elements for fruit-growing.
Apart from Prince Albert Olives, Hein and cousin Adi Badenhorst produce wine under the AA Badenhorst Family Wines and Secateurs labels in the Swartland appellation.
The Products
Olive orchards were established from 2005 according to international best practice with the Italian cultivars of Frantoio, Coratina, Don Carlo and FS17 forming the backbone of the plantings. In total about 75,000 trees are planted on approximately 145ha.
The orchards are managed by Essie Esterhuizen and his team and the harvested fruit is processed in a state of the art mill. The award winning oil is sold locally and abroad in the distinctive yellow tin.
