With the festive and holiday season on our doorstep, visitors can expect ‘all things Christmas’ at Groote Post’s November Market on Sunday 29th of November. All the stalls will be decorated for the occasion and showcasing a wide variety of gifts. Father Christmas will be entertaining the children and Riaan, the DJ, and the winners of the Feather Boa Talent Search Project, will be playing and singing Christmas carols to add to the festive spirit.

With Christmas the ‘season of giving’, and entrance to the market being free, Groote Post is respectfully requesting that visitors bring a Christmas gift for a child, a doggie or a kitty. There will be a ‘Christmas Donation crate at the entrance where you can place any gifts.
The Swartland SPCA is always in need of food for abandoned animals – any packaged food or cans will be much appreciated. The Darling Outreach Foundation has a Child Centre in Darling and they are in need of toiletries for children between the ages of 4 – 15. Deodorant, body lotion, shampoo, soap, toothbrush, wash cloth, towels etc. all donations will be gratefully welcomed.
Guests can expect delectable and beautiful country offerings including artisan foods, arts and crafts, as well as home-ware and décor, and of course, Groote Post’s well-loved wines. Groote Post’s wines will be available for tasting and purchase, including the delicious Groote Post Rosé which is made exclusively for the monthly markets.
All the old favourite stalls will be back, as well as some new exciting ones, with special Christmas stock. Local, of course, is always lekker in Darling with locals presenting a divine selection of gourmet produce including breads, cheese, mushrooms, charcuterie, wors, sauces, olive oils by Longacre Olives and more. And a big hit as always will be popular craft beers from Darling Brew.
As always the Market will present a perfect playground for children who will love the rolling lawns, tractor rides, face painting, water-balls and target-shooting to name a few of the activities that will be available.
After browsing through the market, visitors can relax in the shade under the trees enjoying the music while tucking into their delicious eats from the market. Groote Post’s award-winning restaurant, Hilda’s Kitchen, will be open as usual, but please note that booking is essential.
Although pets are most welcome – all dogs must be on a leash at all times. Visitors arriving without their dogs on a leash will be given an option to buy one from the SPCA stall or hire one at the information stall.
Directions
Follow the R27, the West Coast Road towards Langebaan. Turn right onto the Darling Hills Road opposite Grotto Bay turnoff. After 10 km, turn right to the Groote Post cellar. Alternatively, take the R307 out of Darling towards Cape Town and turn off at the Darling Hills Road. After 7km turn left to the Groote Post Cellar.
