Andante Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from olives grown on Werêldsgeluk (earthly joy) Olive Estate, situated in the Western foothills of the Winterhoek mountain range, about 130km North-East of Cape Town. With the first trees planted in March 2006, 31.89 hectares are now under cultivation, with 34,000 trees of 7 cultivars.
Werêldsgeluk farm is a family-owned farm born from a passion to produce quality extra virgin olive oil year after year, a top quality extra virgin olive oil preferred by all.
At Werêldsgeluk Olive Estate we implement a combination of the best organic and scientific farming practices. Pest control is by means of the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) approach. We limit our carbon footprint and support others committed to do the same. We strive to produce oil and olives with minimum impact on the environment and do not exploit humans or animals.
Andante extra virgin olive oil is made with a two-phase Italian Oliomio press from Toscana Enologica Mori, which has a capacity of 700 kg of olives per hour. We process up to 7 tons per day. At an average extraction of about 18% that gives us around 1,200L of oil per day.
In March 2013, we installed a new TEM plant with a capacity of 1,500 kg per hour, and many newly developed features that enables us to produce extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
All Andante oils are stored in controlled temperature conditions in stainless steel tanks under nitrogen and bottled on demand to combat oxidisation
