Did you know that you can rub or paint olive oil onto leather boots, sandals and belts to make it a slightly darker shade? Simply pour a tablespoon of olive oil on a cloth and rub into your boots or shoes and cover the entire shoe. Leave for 24 hours to dry, repeat if you want it a darker shade. No additional treatment is necessary to retain that darkened effect,

To get that freshly polished look on wooden furniture combine 2 parts olive oil and 1 part lemon juice or vinegar into a spray bottle and spray furniture. Allow the mixture a minute or two then gently rub off. Olive oil dabbed on a clean rag can also be used to polish tarnished stainless steel and brass.

  1. Removes paint from skin

For those who deal with paint regularly, I am sure you are familiar with the task of trying to remove it from your skin. Often harsh chemicals leave skin dry and irritable. Olive oil helps remove the paint while moisturising skin. Rub olive oil onto paint covered skin and allow to soak in for 5 minutes, wash with water and the paint should wash off easily.

If you’ve run out of shaving cream or prefer to use something organic try olive oil. Wash area first with water and rub olive oil onto the area. Olive oil allows for a close shave while keeping skin hydrated so no need to use mouisturising cream after.

Put a teaspoon of olive oil in your cats food to prevent hairballs and this will also give you pet a shiny soft coat.
