Biggest EVOO Competition NYIOOC Adds Even More Benefits For Winners

With over 800 entries from 26 countries, the New York International Olive Oil Competition is the largest and most publicised olive oil quality competition in the world and it will be adding even more benefits and opportunities for the winning producers.

On April 27, 2017 the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) will reveal the results of the world’s largest olive oil taste test and reveal the year’s best extra virgin olive oils at a press conference broadcast live.

The 2017 NYIOOC organisers explain that the judging will be held a few weeks later in the season than past editions, allowing more Southern Hemisphere brands to participate.

This is good news for our local olive oil producers as the winning olive oils are coveted by chefs, food buyers and discerning consumers everywhere who value extra virgin olive oils of the very highest quality.

More than 820 brands from 26 countries were judged in the 2016 edition of the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil competition. The winners, including one of our very own local producers, Rio Largo, are presented on the website bestoliveoils.com.

The NYIOOC president, Curtis Cord, explains how they intend to take this prestigious competition to even greater heights with new developments:

We’re building on the success of the Best Olive Oils Guide by adding a native app that will allow a buyer to scan any bottle with a phone to see if it is a winning oil. Beyond that, we will present tasting notes, food pairing suggestions, information about the olive cultivars used and the region where the oil was produced, right there quickly and conveniently on the mobile device where the buyer needs it.

Development will also continue on the innovative olive oil and food pairing app, which has been used by more than 150,000 people since it was introduced earlier this year to find the best olive oil to use for a certain dish.

With such great benefits and opportunity for exposure, there is no reason not to enter. Olive oil producers can register for the 2017 NYIOOC on the website.
