With the arrival of winter you’ll probably find your skin is starting feel dry and in need of some TLC. We know how good olive oil is for moisturizing, especially those sensitive areas that require only all natural ingredients. While lots of people are still on the fence about which is better, coconut or olive oil, we say the more the merrier when it comes to treating your skin. Both coconut and olive oil have their own benefits as do cocoa butter and shea butter. When combining these four super-skin-saviors to make this body butter, you will feel the results.
Homemade body products make for excellent gifts, especially for Mother’s Day which is just around the corner. All you need is some nice glass jars, ribbon and homemade labels to make a stunning gift with this whipped body butter.
1/2 cup each of organic
- Cocoa butter
- Shea butter
- Coconut oil
- Extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of essential oils (I used 1/4 each of grapefruit and lavender)
Add cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil into a double boiler. If you do not have one, use a glass or metal bowl over a pan of boiling water.
Heat until melted, mixing with whisk. Remove whisk and put mixture into fridge for one hour or until firm.
With hand mixer, whip oils until creamy and light. Add essential oils and mix again.
Spoon your body butter into glass jars. Mixture may seem a bit moist after whipping but will firm up after a few minutes.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups of whipped body butter.
